The new season is coming

Castle Hill Cricket Club – news from the boundary

Squelch, squelch, squelch go the wellington boots as they plod around the outfield of the pitch – what with the horrible weather and the rather disastrous ashes tour down under, it hard to imagine the Cricket season is less than 3 months away – BUT IT IS! – hurray!

Soon our ground will be a hive of activity for the start of a new season – welcome to our cricket club located on Crook Rd, Brenchley, TN12 7BW.

Looking back, 2013 was another successful year from the club:-

-  Our senior side, playing friendlies against village and touring sides from across the South East, won more games than it lost (again!)

 - Youth cricket has continued to thrive at the club with teams playing at U15, U13, U11. Add to this our nursery cricket that runs for ages 7 to 9 (those with seemingly boundless energy reserves!) on a Saturday morning and we can offer cricket truly from 7 through to over 70

-  Our nets and surrounding running areas were refurbished and are ready for their first full season of use

- We now have an updated website that our PR Department (!?!?) are currently starting to build

This means 2014 is going to be another busy season and plans are underway to make this as successful as possible.

As clubs like ours grow, there is always room for others to get involved, so whether its helping in our youth section coaching sessions, helping to pour the squash for thirsty young cricketers through to popping up for a beer and watching a game, you’ll always be welcome. Please contact our youth section chairman, Andrew Blamey or club Chairman, Robert Akenhead (details on the contact page - click the link above) to chat about how you can help.

Likewise, if there are any experienced players out there that are fancying playing a decent standard of cricket in a very friendly environment, we’d be pleased to hear from you – feel free to give our skipper Mike Iles an email  mike@madpoplars.com to have a chat and find out more.
