This weeks news

Firstly on our U9's page is a write up of last years Super 8 competition. Good reading ahead of our upcoming season.

Secondly we now have new signs on our gates at the club - the AGM decided we should have a refresh and include our web address.

Now with signs facing both ways, there should be no excuse for anyone not finding the ground.

Pictures from clean up day

Thank you very much to everyone that helped out today to get the ground shipshape for the coming season.  Here are a few pictures to highlight all the work that was done.

Just a quick reminder to all youth section players, please complete and return registration forms - thank  you!!

Peter Bateman giving the ground a first cut of the season ... and making impressive patterns on the outfield ... and the end result illustrated by a panoramic view of the ground ... not long to go until the season starts.

Plenty of people were hard at work in the pavilion as we opened up for the first time .... unfortunately Henry The Hoover didn't make it through the winter and has had to be retired .... can anyone spare a second-hand hoover?

The First Eleven captain and groundsman hard at work clearing around the pond area .... any excuse for a bonfire!!!

The pond area has been a hidden feature for a while ... we have great hopes for a flourishing wildlife oasis ....

Sadly we've had to cut down one of our large horse chestnut trees .... didn't know Hirsty could do that just with a strimmer?!!

2015 U11,U13 and U15 fixtures out

Yes - snow is still in the air but the 2015 youth cricket fixtures are out.

Click on the fixture tab above and you can find all the border league fixtures - in the coming weeks, we'll devise our usual list of just CHCC fixtures which will include confirmed days for the U11's - currently set at the usual Mondays but some may change like last year to avoid bank holidays etc

2015 Clean Up Day

Yes this years day for a clear up is

SATURDAY 28th MARCH

The morning starts around 9am - please come along if you have any time to help tidy up the ground, do some running repairs on the clubhouse, perhaps a bit of painting etc etc.

Just wear old clothes (there are no fashion awards on this morning!) and bring gardening tools, fence painting brushes etc etc with you.

Without this day, the club wouldn't look neat and tidy during the season.

Cheers

The committee

The new season is coming

Castle Hill Cricket Club – news from the boundary

Squelch, squelch, squelch go the wellington boots as they plod around the outfield of the pitch – what with the horrible weather and the rather disastrous ashes tour down under, it hard to imagine the Cricket season is less than 3 months away – BUT IT IS! – hurray!

Soon our ground will be a hive of activity for the start of a new season – welcome to our cricket club located on Crook Rd, Brenchley, TN12 7BW.

Looking back, 2013 was another successful year from the club:-

-  Our senior side, playing friendlies against village and touring sides from across the South East, won more games than it lost (again!)

 - Youth cricket has continued to thrive at the club with teams playing at U15, U13, U11. Add to this our nursery cricket that runs for ages 7 to 9 (those with seemingly boundless energy reserves!) on a Saturday morning and we can offer cricket truly from 7 through to over 70

-  Our nets and surrounding running areas were refurbished and are ready for their first full season of use

- We now have an updated website that our PR Department (!?!?) are currently starting to build

This means 2014 is going to be another busy season and plans are underway to make this as successful as possible.

As clubs like ours grow, there is always room for others to get involved, so whether its helping in our youth section coaching sessions, helping to pour the squash for thirsty young cricketers through to popping up for a beer and watching a game, you’ll always be welcome. Please contact our youth section chairman, Andrew Blamey or club Chairman, Robert Akenhead (details on the contact page - click the link above) to chat about how you can help.

Likewise, if there are any experienced players out there that are fancying playing a decent standard of cricket in a very friendly environment, we’d be pleased to hear from you – feel free to give our skipper Mike Iles an email  mike@madpoplars.com to have a chat and find out more.
